We are thrilled to announce the opening of the A Better Red project, creating faster connections between Hillsboro and Portland, Oregon. This significantly enhances the TriMet MAX Red Line service by extending the Red Line westward, adding 10 new stations and improving schedule reliability across the entire MAX system by removing several bottlenecks.
Backed by federal funds, the project has not only enhanced regional transportation but also contributed to job creation in the area. Construction began in fall 2021, with major milestones achieved earlier this year. The new Gateway North MAX Station and the fully renovated Portland International Airport (PDX) MAX Station were both unveiled in March 2024. The project delivers on its promise of offering a seamless, one-seat ride between PDX and Hillsboro.
