About the Project

This is a CM/GC project for the demolition and reconstruction of the iconic Sixth Street Viaduct, located just east of downtown Los Angeles. The new bridge will have 11 concrete arch spans connecting the Arts District to Boyle Heights. The project also includes the construction of a new river gateway portal to the Los Angeles River.

This new tunnel structure extends beneath nine active railroad lines. Associated work includes utility relocations, intersection reconstruction, a multi-use walkway, and a 12-acre community park below the new bridge. The bridge crosses over Hwy. 101, the Los Angeles River, and two major railroad corridors totaling 18 tracks.

The site is in the most filmed area of Los Angeles; project requirements included coordinating with the film industry to allow access.
